SUSRUR's consortium held a webinar on the 15th of June (2023) to answer the questions about the ACCELERATOR open call opportunity for SMEs in the tourism sector from 5 rural & remote areas of Europe. Potential applicants were given the opportunity to learn more about the details of the open call and the application process, as well as to ask questions to the consortium members. The ACCELERATOR call is supporting SMEs in the tourism sector from 5 rural & remote areas of Europe:

  • Asturias (Spain);
  • Western Macedonia (Greece);
  • Harghita (Romania);
  • Utena (Lithuania);
  • Steirisches Vulkanland (Austria).

It is an unique opportunity to learn how to develop or adapt your own sustainable product or service, while also having access to expert advices and mentoring.

As part of the OPEN CALL #1 - ACCELERATOR Program the awarded applicants will receive a € 6.000 worth support package:

  • You will access to training and capacitation resources.
  • You will attend on webinars with industry experts & access to mentoring programme.
  • You will be able to network & connect with key ecosystem stakeholders.
  • You will be able to choose a tourism sustainability certification (€ 1.000).

During the 5 months journey, applicants will discover sustainable impact in tourism through new business models, social enterprises, and cooperative ventures. They will be inspired by examples of innovative rural tourism businesses and gain insights into how to apply these concepts to their own venture. To enhance networking and collaboration between teams across various regions, we will bring everyone together in Greece. Teams will be challenged to develop a sustainable business idea that adds value for their existing customers or a new target segment, and create an innovative solution to bring that idea to life. Participants will use the Lean Canvas framework to turn their innovative solution from the ideation phase into a functioning business model. Participants will focus on developing a comprehensive sustainable marketing strategy that resonates with their target audience, without resorting to greenwashing. They will also have access to optional workshops on topics such as website development, online marketplaces and platforms, search engine optimization (SEO) strategies for social media channels, and more.
